Recovery

Dad's white blood cell count went down to 44 yesterday (after the initial high count of 60). He's still in the hospital, and we're still praying that he'll leave soon, so he can enjoy all the comforts of home.

I definately think being home would be better.

My mom decided to stop treatment today after 3 years of battling. She is now going to go under hospice care. Initially she will be at home in Metro Detroit. After Christmas however I will bring her to Grand Rapids to live with me. She will also be under hospice care here.

You're right in saying that being home is much better, and that's why we've made the decision we did. Unfortunately in Detroit her living situation is sub par. Here I can do much more to make her comfortable than can be done there.

I just wanted to say that you are doing an amazing job in handling the tough decisions you've faced. We're taught to honor our father and mother and you're certianly glorifying God in that.

Hey Jerry:

You've been such a huge encouragement over the last several weeks. I respect so much your decision to care for your mom, and I pray your time together will be sweet and filled with beautiful memories.

I believe God will honor your decision. And in a sense, there is some relief in knowing your mom will not have to undergo any more treatments--I find the cures to sometimes be worse than the disease.

Keep the faith and know that all of us at EV are standing with you, too.
